As part of the close cooperation with the main class STCC, the NXT Gen Cup champion will not only be crowned the official Swedish Junior Champion, but also receive financial support to race in the 2024 STCC season.
”We are delighted to join forces with the STCC for the historic 2023 season when Sweden will become the world’s first country to offer a fully electric touring car career ladder,” said Fredrik Lestrup, co-founder of NXT Gen Cup. The entire world is electrifying at a rapid pace and the time is now to act for motorsport as well. We are together with the STCC securing a relevant career ladder for young talents in the world of electrified motorsport, securing a strong regrowth of Scandinavian motorsport.”
The season will start on Sweden’s fastest circuit Falkenberg in July, before moving on to the longest circuit in Scandinavia; Skellefteå, at the beginning of August. Gelleråsen Arena will host the third round later that month, while the Helsingborg city race will feature as a show event for the inaugural NXT Gen Cup season. Ring Knutstorp in the south of Sweden will host the fourth round before heading to Mantorp Park for the penultimate round at the end of September. The NXT Gen Cup season finale will be held outside of the STCC calendar, to be revealed in due course.
An official pre-season test will be held at Gelleråsen Arena on June 7-8, followed by a second official test at the same circuit on July 25th.
