• 1983 -1984

    Racing brake engineering specialist, John Moore, takes job as MD at Alexander Controls Ltd. He is then approached by Audi Sport to make brakes for Group B Quattro. Later that year, Alexander Controls designs its first performance disc brakes and calipers. In 1984 Stig Blomqvist wins Driver’s and Manufacturer’s World Rally Championships using Audi A2 and S1 on Alcon brakes .

  • 1986

    Alcon’s first Formula One World Championship application for the Beatrice-Haas F1 team in the Ford powered THL2.

  • 1996

    Audi Sport showed absolute dominance winning all 7 national Touring Car championships around the world, all on Alcon brakes.

  • 2005

    Alcon becomes official supplier of IndyCar® road course brake calipers and rotors and ran within the series for 6 consecutive years.

  • 2008

    Alcon offers the World's largest production brake package, a Carbon Ceramic Upgrade for the Bentley Continental GT. 8 piston Mono-bloc aluminium caliper, 420mm diameter disc - the world’s largest OE brake at launch.

  • 2014

    Alcon becomes sole supplier of braking systems for the FIA Formula E Championship and ran within the series for 4 consecutive years. Alcon designed, manufactured and supplied the full foundation braking system. This includes master cylinders, brake calipers, disc bells, and carbon discs.

  • 2015

    Kyle Busch claims victory in the Monster Energy NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Busch brought his Alcon-equipped, Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota home 1.5 seconds ahead of his nearest rival and with it is crowned the 2015 NASCAR Champion.

  • 2016

    Sebastien Ogier wins his third WRC title and Volkswagen win Manufacturers title, giving Alcon 18 driver’s championships and 15 manufacturer’s titles in the 20 years to 2016.

  • 2017

    Alcon completed the first stage of an investment program in US brake specialists Pro-System Inc. The deal consists of Alcon taking a substantial stake in the well-known NC based brake business Pro-System Inc which will pave the way to a considerable expansion of both Alcon’s and Pro-System’s business in the US.

  • 2018

    Alcon wins contracts with Aston Martin Racing, Bentley Motorsport, and McLaren Racing for their GT Championship programs. Their GT cars are equipped with Alcon's first ever pedal box (PBA800) and Alcon braking systems.

  • 2021

    Alcon supplies the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro with foundation brakes and pedal boxes for all 40 cars, crafting a braking system that flawlessly reflected the extraordinary capabilities of the vehicle.

  • 2023

    Alcon wins Most Innovative Product in Motorsport of the Year at the World Motorsport Symposium Awards for its revolutionary SMART piston inserts. This solution tackles a long-standing challenge in motorsport: brake pedal feel degradation due to unevenly worn pads.

  • 2023

    Alcon wins contract to supply braking systems and pedal boxes for the new Mustang GT3 which will tackle both the IMSA SportsCar Championship and FIA WEC. This is Alcon’s first Ford GT programme.

  • 2024

    Alcon wins prestigious MIA Export Achievement Award for its outstanding contributions to the global market. The award was presented at the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) Business Excellence Awards, held at Silverstone Wing. Alcon earned this recognition for its exceptional export success, with approximately 75% of its sales originating from international markets.
