Quality Inspector

Reporting to: Quality Engineering Manager

Objective: Support the department internal activities related to part inspection. Complete inspection reports and related documentation in line with the document control requirements. Interact with the other members of the departments to improve productivity in our inspection processes.

Key Responsibilities

Visual Inspection
  • Perform visual inspection of brake calipers in accordance with work instructions, inspection standards, and quality requirements.
  • Identify and classify defects such as:
    • Surface damage (scratches, dents).
    • Casting defects (porosity, cracks, inclusions).
    • Coating or paint defects.
    • Corrosion or contamination.
    • Missing, damaged, or incorrectly assembled components.
    • Thread damage and burrs.
  • Verify correct part identification, markings, labels, and traceability information.
  • Inspect critical features for cleanliness and workmanship standards.
  • Segregate and report non-conforming products according to quality procedures.
Basic Dimensional Verification
  • Conduct basic measurements and gauging activities as specified in work instructions.
  • Use inspection equipment such as:
    • Go/No-Go gauges.
    • Vernier calipers.
    • Plug gauges.
    • Thread gauges.
    • Basic measurement fixtures.
  • Confirm dimensions and features are within specified tolerances.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Accurately record inspection results and quality data.
  • Complete inspection reports, check sheets, and production records.
  • Maintain traceability of inspected components.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
  • Follow all quality, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Adhere to inspection plans, control plans, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized inspection area.

Required Competencies

Visual Acuity and Observation Skills
  • Good eyesight (corrected vision acceptable where applicable).
  • Ability to distinguish small defects, irregularities, and surface imperfections.
  • Ability to maintain concentration during repetitive inspection tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in defect detection.
Technical Knowledge
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, visual standards, and inspection criteria.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and acceptance/rejection criteria.
  • Basic literacy skill to input data into spreadsheets
Measurement and Gauging Skills
  • Competent in the use of basic inspection and gauging equipment.
  • Ability to interpret simple dimensional specifications and tolerances.
  • Understanding of gauge care, handling, and calibration requirements.
Quality Awareness
  • Ability to identify non-conforming products and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Understanding of defect classification and quality reporting processes.
  • Commitment to product safety and customer quality requirements.

Competency Statement

The Brake Caliper Inspector is responsible for carrying out visual and basic dimensional inspections of brake calipers to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering requirements, and internal quality standards. The role requires excellent visual acuity, strong attention to detail, the ability to identify manufacturing and assembly defects, and competency in the use of basic gauges and inspection equipment in accordance with documented work instructions. The inspector must accurately record inspection results, identify non-conforming products, and support the maintenance of high-quality automotive safety-critical components.

Working Hours

Days:    07:00 – 16:00 (Mo – Th), 07:00 – 12:00 (Fr)

Additional Working Hours

As and when required, in line with employment contract.
