Volkswagen clinched all three steps on the podium at this year’s Dakar rally with its Race Touareg 3, which utilises Alcon discs and friction material.
Driver Nasser Al-Attiyah (and co-driver Timo Gottschalk) led home the VW 1-2-3 finish, ahead of team mates Giniel Di Villiers and, long-time rally leader, Carlos Sainz. The 310bhp Touareg is now one of the world’s most powerful and most reliable cross-country rally vehicles. Other notable results using Alcon brakes were the 21st and 33rd place finishes of the QT Wildcat vehicles. |
