  • Reporting to:

    Head of Sales

    Objective:

    To be responsible for generating profitable sales in the Motorsport market to both existing and new customers in order to help cement Alcon’s continuing growth within this market, and in line with the business plan.

    Key Responsibilities

    You will be expected to undertake the following responsibilities both on a general basis and also in response to specific requests from the Head of Sales.

    • Working in conjunction with the Head of Sales, and in line with the business plan, win profitable business via effective “solution” selling into the Motorsport market (both new and existing customers)
    • Be responsible for all planning aspects of the sales process including contract negotiation, product testing, payment, spares, program duration.
    • Act as primary sales contact for new and existing Motorsport customers on a daily basis (Account Manager to support you on a daily basis)
    • Fulfill the commercial role of “engineering change management” for existing customer projects as and when necessary, working closely with the engineering department and Project Manager.
    • Work closely with the Alcon designated Project Manager to ensure any variances in key project milestones are relayed back to the customer (via the Motorsport Account Manager).
    • Oversee the Motorsport Account Manager in processing sales orders onto Alcon’s ERP system in accordance with set procedures.
    • Working with the Motorsport Account Manager, liaise with the Engineering department as required to establish correct technical specifications or to instigate engineering work to fulfill customer requirements.
    • Take the lead with regard to planning for and attendance of events such as trade shows, competition events and customer tests.
    • Support the Motorsport Account Manager by fielding customer specific telephone enquiries and provide advice to customers on items such as product / technical issues for potential new customers.
    • Development of network of relationships with all decision influencers within the target prospect.
    • Assist in any other sales office duties as and when required.

  • Reporting to:

    Chief Engineer

    Objective:

    To design and develop foundation brake products to meet the customer requirements within the target timescales. To be achieved through use of own engineering skills and by liaison with other team members, functions, suppliers and customer engineers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operating in a team environment, to lead the design and development of foundation brake components (calipers, discs) and assemblies that meet both performance and manufacturability requirements.
    • To work closely with Sales and key customers, to develop product requirements/specification and apply product designs that meet market requirements and give Alcon a performance edge over its competition.
    • Work with Design Engineers to ensure that the components designed are technically sound, robust, cost effective and meet the requirements. Applying and developing design guidelines to ensure consistent application within the sector.
    • To lead the delivery of the Engineering elements of APQP including DFMEA, Design Review, DVP&R etc where projects demand.
    • To compile concise specifications for test, development and validation of components and assemblies (DVP).
    • To take the engineering lead on Engineering Change of products to ensure smooth transition to new revisions and accurate control of product is maintained throughout the business.
    • To develop robust standards and specifications to ensure the effective implementation of production processes within Alcon and through the supply chain.
    • To innovate in order to develop Alcon’s position as a front-running high-performance road brake manufacturer.
    • To monitor the total cost of components and assemblies in order to ensure the most cost-effective production route is selected.
    • Liaise with Design and FEA engineers to ensure new products meet analytical (Analytical DVP) targets and where appropriate performance issues are investigated and resolved.
    • To assist in component supplier search and selection.
    • To lead brake performance issue resolution for customers including the investigation of cause, development of potential solutions, progress of test samples and introduction of proven solutions.
    • To support the New Product Introduction process of a new product into manufacturing through liaison with other departments.
    • To provide technical support to sales, manufacturing, quality and suppliers.
    • To support customers through provision of advice by telephone and, face-to-face meetings.
    • To provide track/event support for customers using Alcon product.

  • Reporting to:

    Shift Supervisor

    Objective:

    To provide day to day support to the Caliper Cell, Setting and Operating 3 and 4 Axis CNC Machines (Doosan, Mori, etc).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Run proven programs, adjust work and/or tool co-ordinates and correct any errors.
    • Set tools and produce a ‘First Off’ part to correct quality standard
    • Carry out 1st off inspection from engineering drawings and update paperwork. 
    • Ensure the cell output is made to the agreed schedules. 
    • Ensure the quality of the machine output is to required specification 
    • Apply machine maintenance as per schedules.  
    • Co-operate and liaise with all other areas when required. 
    • Ensure 5‘s is maintained in the cell and other areas. 
    • Carry out any other duties reasonable within capability including possible secondment to work in other areas on the shop floor.

  • Objective:

    As a Production Engineering Apprentice you will learn to support the production engineering manager and the team in delivering and implementing new manufacturing processes and giving smooth & effective support to existing ones.  You will learn to work collaboratively with other departments within Alcon to ensure the production of high quality braking and clutch systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Create CNC programs that produce components to drawing specifications
    • Implement processes that produce components to drawing specifications
    • Create Manufacturing tool layout’s and fixture layouts
    • To manage and document major process changes
    • Work closely with manufacturing and quality to support any functions and requirements of any of the departments of the business

  • Objective:

    As an apprentice, you will be working in the assembly area, building brake and clutch components for the OEM and motorsport industry. You will learn to understand and read manufacturing specifications and engineering drawings to enable to build components.  This will be done by hand, using hand assembly tools and measuring equipment.  You will learn to become a hands-on technician who is able to build and strip components.

    You will need to identify scrap parts, reject and sample materials and actively participates in the QIS procedure.

    We are ISO14001 and TS16949 accredited so you will support the Quality and Environmental systems, ensuring that Environmental, Quality and H&S policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
